About us

Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM) is a Mauritanian company, operating in the research, exploitation, processing, transport and export of iron ore.

Its deposits are located in the Tiris Zemour region, in the north of Mauritania.

SNIM fully manages its chain of operations: geological research, mining, maintenance, water and electricity production, iron ore transport, operation of the loading port in Nouadhibou...

SNIM owns and operates its own railway line, over 700 km long, mainly used for the transport of iron ore.

With more than 60 years of experience in the mining sector, SNIM is a real engine of the national economy.

Certified ISO 9001 since 2005 and ISO 14001 since 2011, SNIM’s commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility was materialized in 2021 by obtaining the committed CSR label – at the confirmed level – and the achievement of an extra-financial assessment on the Ecovadis rating platform. The CSR Label was renewed in 2024, enhanced by our new CSR certification, Responsability Europe (For more information, please refer to "Our certifications" page.
