SNIM: Repair of the railway after damage caused by rainwater
The repair works of the railway, damaged following the rainwater on the axis connecting Choum and Touajil, precisely at kilometer 552 of Nouadhibou, has been completed, and the train has resumed its usual traffic four hours ago, as per a SNIM’s press release, received on Monday at the MAI.
The communication states that the SNIM technical teams had begun repairs in the early hours of the day to allow the resumption of train traffic which had been suspended following damages caused by the rainwater runoff.
‘’The rains caused the ground to slide and create two pits 25 m each under the tracks, spaced 100 m apart, without causing any damages. The train was parked in its usual locations, following safety procedures,” further noted the communication.
