Inauguration of new ore processing installations at TO14 facility

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated the new ore processing installations at TO14 facility. These new installations will allow SNIM to increase its marketable production of fine ores by 2 million tons per year.
In addition to increasing the production capacity of fines, these new facilities will help to ensure a better control of the quality of the commercial product.
The commissioning of these facilities is part of the SNIM’s Company Strategic Business Program (PES), whose main priority is to increase production capacity.
SNIM’s strategic business program for the period 2020-2026 aims at increasing the company’s production to 18 million tons by 2024 and 24 million tons by 2026.
Several projects have been already launched by SNIM to ensure this ramp-up:

  • Implementation of the action plan aiming the increase in production of the Guelb2 plant to 4 millions of concentrate;
  • The ore port dredging project currently underway;
  • Rehabilitation and modernization of the Guelb1 plant;
  • The rehabilitation of Rouessa handling for the production of 2 million tonnes;
  • The development of the F'derick project for the production of 3 million tons of naturally rich ores;
  • Developing of a new enrichment plant in Tizerghaf for the production of 6 million tons of concentrate.

‘’The successful implementation of this development plan, which is in line with the policies and strategies of the department of oil, energy and mines, will enable SNIM to change its paradigm by adapting to changes in its environment in order to be able to face current challenges; in particular its technological gap, the  dislocations in the iron ore market marked by a fierce competition, the lack of experienced professional skills and the requirements of sustainable development,” said Abdesselam Ould Mohamed Salah, Minister of oil, energy and mines.
In connection with the inauguration ceremony of these facilities, the President of the Republic launched the distribution of 600 housing plots for the benefit of SNIM workers in Zouerate.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani launched the electrification of Tarhil area in Zouerate.
