SNIM participates and officially sponsors the Mauritanides exhibition and forum

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, today (09/08/2025) supervised at The International Conference Center (Al Mourabitoune) the opening of the seventh edition of the Mauritanides Forum and Exhibition, dedicated to the Energy and Mining sectors. SNIM has been its official sponsor since its first edition.
Four SNIM subsidiaries also participated this year: SAFA, SAMIA, COMECA, and the Grand Hotels of Mauritania, as well as El Aouj Mining Company and Takkamul.
This edition of the conference is organized under the theme: "Contributing to the future of energy through the development of essential projects in the fields of mining, gas, and energy," to highlight the importance of these sectors and their role in the country's sustainable development.
SNIM's interest in the conference stems from its role in developing national capacities in these areas, due to their importance in promoting the national economy.
The conference also offers an opportunity for national and international experts to meet and promotes the creation of partnerships in the mining and energy sectors.
In his opening speech, SNIM's CEO and Board member, Mr. Mohamed Vall TELMIDY, presented part of SNIM's plan to increase its production in the coming years, as part of its recently adopted strategic program. He announced that national iron ore production would reach 45 million tons by 2031, with the goal of making SNIM a regional mining hub by 2045. This plan includes the launch of mining and industrial transformation projects, which will increase the added value of mineral resources and transform them into a powerful lever for the national economy.
The CEO and Board member highlighted the improvement in the company's production in recent years, with production exceeding the threshold of 14 million tons for two consecutive years, and production approaching 15 million tons this year.
He also revealed new mineral resource discoveries, including a new naturally rich hematite mine in the Tazadit region, as well as additional magnetic iron resources in the Guelb El Rain and Om Arwaguen regions.
Mr. TELMIDY emphasized the company's leading role in supporting the national economy through the creation of more than 11,000 direct and indirect jobs, contribution to state budget revenues, and development of subsidiaries related to its activity.
As part of corporate social responsibility, the CEO and Board member highlighted SNIM's contributions to local development in the areas surrounding its operations, the construction of solar and wind power plants, and the development of an environmental and industrial plan for a clean energy transition.
Mr. TELMIDY concluded by thanking employees, the country's high authorities, shareholders, and financial backers for their support and trust, and called for using this forum to develop new partnerships in the mining and energy sectors.
