Appointment of Mr. Ismail Bedde Cheikh Sidiya as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SNIM
SNIM is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ismail Bedde Cheikh Sidiya as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
A former Prime Minister of Mauritania, he brings over 37 years of leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. His distinguished career has led him to hold strategic positions in key areas such as mining, urban development, fisheries, free zones, economy, employment, and information and communication technologies.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ismail Bedde Cheikh Sidiya has notably served as:
- Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and Land Management,
- Founder and then President of the Nouadhibou Free Zone Authority,
- Minister of Employment, Vocational Training, and Information and Communication Technologies.
He has also held senior positions in both public and private enterprises and has worked as an international consultant for several years.
Mr. Ismail Bedde Cheikh Sidiya is an engineering graduate of the École Centrale de Paris. He also holds a DEA (Diplôme d'Études Approfondies: Master’s degree) in Soil and Structural Mechanics as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Fundamental Applications from the Paul Sabatier University in France.
His recognized expertise in high-level negotiations and strategic partnership development, his in-depth knowledge of the mining sector, his ability to lead ambitious reforms, and his talent for uniting stakeholders around major projects will help strengthen the company’s governance, accelerate its development, and reinforce its leading role in the national economy.
