Created in 2007, the SNIM Foundation is a non-profit organization. It is the ‘social arm’ of the company. Today, the SNIM Foundation is one of the main players in socio-economic development in Mauritania; particularly in the Nouadhibou-Zouerate corridor where it helps people gain access to basic services. Thus, between 2007 and 2012 SNIM Foundation has rehabilitated, built and equipped health centers, schools, mosques, shopping centers, wells, dams, etc.

In 2012 alone, the Foundation invested over 6.6 billion ouguiya (MRO) in local development along three main strategic lines of action:

• Improving basic social services (drinking water, health, education, socio-economic infrastructure);
• Promoting access to funding for the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises;
• Helping to build the capacities of local communities.
